At the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, I study the alternative nucleic acid secondary structures and their relationships with normal biology and oncogenesis. For these purposes, she will use various genomic, transcriptomic and molecular tools to investigate the formation and dynamics of G-quadruplex structures in the genome and their roles in gene expression in normal and cancer cells. It is hoped that, through understanding the biology of nucleic acids and their effects on molecular mechanism in carcinogenesis, it will open up new venues for cancer management and we can translate the findings to design novel stratification, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
